TAYLOR U. INVITEKokomo Tribune - Sunday, August 27, 2017 BY TRIBUNE STAFF REPORTS Western took sixth place in the 14-team invite with a score of 182. Princeton won with a score of 63, followed by Indianapolis Pike with 81 and Wabash at 95. Maconaquah was 10th with 241 and Tipton 14th with 308. Andrew Granfield led Western with a 21st-place finish in 17:52, followed by Tyler Lechner (25th, 18:02), Alex Taylor (33rd, 18:16), Brayden Curnutt (39th, 18:41), and Chandler Ciscell (64th, 19:24). "Six of the 11 guys that ran today all PRd, including Andrew and Chandler," Western coach Gary Jewell said. "Taylor University has really upgraded the quality of the [teams in the] field. Pike was there, Princeton, I think both those teams were semistate teams in their respective areas. Really good competition and right now we're seeing we can be in that mix." Jewell said that with expected improvements over the coming weeks, "when October rolls around, we're going to be right where we want to be." |
