MACONAQUAH INVITE

Noblesville won the 18-team invitational with a resounding score of 25. Twin Lakes was second at 126 and Kokomo led the local contingent, taking third at 138. Western was fifth at 156. Northwestern was 13th with a 318. Peru was 14th with a score of 356. Eastern was 16th with 417.

For Kokomo, J.C. Roberts finished third in 18:16, Corey Dea was 16th (18:36), Max White was 20th (18:49), Justin Taflinger was 32nd (19:15) and Nigel Lenoir finished 64th in 20:38.

"Our Wildkat harriers survived a mud bog, one sick kid dropping out, and one kid losing a shoe at one mile, but still finished third," Kokomo coach Ricke Stucker said.

Josh Everetts took fifth in a time of 17:14 to lead Western, followed by Alex Taylor (27th, 19:06), Andrew Granfield (36th, 19:22), Tyler Lechner (42nd, 19:44) and Zach Zentz (56th, 20:20).

"It was probably the worst race conditions we're going to see," Western coach Gary Jewell said. "With all the rain we had [Friday] night the course was standing water. We ran the second race and the course was rapidly deteriorating.

"I think we ran reasonably well considering what we were running against. Josh Everetts had a respectable race."

For Northwestern, Spencer Hutchins was 44th in 19:48, Jacob Myers was 52nd (20:10). Gavin Smith was 62nd (20:34). Mitchell Harrell was 86th (21:30). And Evan Witter was 94th (21:50).

"I'm pleased with what they did," NW coach Dave Stevens said. "The course conditions were terrible. All the rain and everything we got [Friday] night, the place had water standing everywhere, and it rained on us all day. The girls [who ran first] didn't beat it up too bad but they sure left a lot of mud and the boys made it worse."

Peru was led by Isaiah Hollis in 46th (19:50). Seth Anderson was 70th (20:50), Kelly Hanaway was 81st (21:16), Levi Cunningham was 83rd (21:19) and Ethan Robinette was 98th (22:02).

For Eastern, Josh Reprogle was 45th (19:48), Macaiah White was 85th (21:29), Alex Morrow was 107th (22:27), Seth Snyder was 109th (22:49), and Nick Hillman was 130th (30:16).

"I felt like the kids did a really nice job," Eastern coach Ben Cox said. He noted several Comets "ran really well either comparing back to a previous best or comparing to what they've ran before."

For Taylor, Anthony Somer was 127th in 26:42 and Eli Paul was 129th in 29:39.

MACONAQUAH INVITE

Noblesville won the invite, posting a score of 39 in the field of 13 complete teams. Twin Lakes was second at 95 and Maconaquah led the local contingent in third place with a score of 115. Cass was fourth (128), Western fifth (129), Northwestern seventh (143), Tipton 11th (271) and Eastern 13th (368).

Madison Winegardner led Maconaquah, taking 10th in 21:01, followed by Haley Wimmer (15th, 21:32), Kate White (23rd, 21:56), Bekah Shinn (28th, 22:15), and Bailey Hays (42nd, 23:08).

Casey Lechner was 14th in 21:20 to lead Northwestern. Lauren Longshore was 21st (21:50), Kate Bilkey was 22nd (21:52), Madison McGriff was 39th (23:02), Lauryn Fackler was 60th (24:24).

"All of my girls went after it," NW coach Dave Stevens said. "I didn't have a single girl, varsity through JV who didn't get after it even though the mud got worse as the day went on. Seventh place was good for the day.

"We had an athlete taking the ACT [Saturday] which would have made quite a bit of difference. We ran well again, our fourth meet in a row of running really well. The schools at the top, Noblesville and Twin Lakes, they're really good. We would have been right there at that third spot if we'd been running at full strength."

For Eastern, Molly Hapner was 61st in 24:23. Olivia Vogl was 84th (26:09), Catie White was 101st (29:24), Miranda Addison was 102nd (29:27), and Katrina Witt was 103rd (29:56).

"It was a little different to run in such sloppy conditions," Eastern coach Ben Cox said. "We worked really hard on racing together. Catie, Miranda and Katrina did a really good job of pushing each other through the race and hopefully as we improve through the season they'll be able to do that in a faster and faster time."

For Taylor, Alli Abney was 59th in 24:13 and Carly Brewster was 95th in 27:52.

Kokomo's contingent was led by Breanna Roberts in 66th in a time of 24:42.

Peru had three runners. Jaelin Richardson was 18th (21:38), Jazzmyan Bayless was 77th (25:20) and Cristina Fowler was 107th (33:12).
