The state tournament trails continue today for cross country and volleyball.

In cross country, three local teams and several local individuals will run in the New Prairie Semistate where the top six teams and the top 10 individuals from non-qualifying teams will punch tickets to the State Finals on Oct. 31 at Terre Haute.

Western, Maconaquah and Northwestern are part of 20-team field for the girls race. In addition, Taylor's Cami Hansen and Lewis Cass' Miah Martin are in the field.

There are no local teams in the boys race, but there are five local individuals — Western teammates Josh Everetts and Josh Scott, Kokomo teammates Ethan Sharp and Max White and Cass' Cail Brown.

The New Prairie Semistate brings together teams from the Crown Point, Culver Academies, Harrison and New Prairie regionals.

At the Culver Academies Regional last week, Western, Maconaquah and Northwestern finished 3-4-5 in the girls race and Cass' Martin had the top individual finish, taking third.

In the boys race at the regional, Everetts' seventh-place finish was the top local showing.
