X-country regional today

The Culver Academies and Logansport sectionals feed into the regional. At Culver Academies, Warsaw won the girls and boys team titles. Warsaw's girls are ranked No. 6 in the state. At Logansport, Western won the girls race and Winamac won the boys race.

At the sectionals, the top five teams and the top 10 individuals from non-advancing teams made the cut for regional.

In the Logansport girls race, the Panthers edged 2014 champion Maconaquah by one point, 63-64, for the title. Maconaquah put three runners in the top six, but Western countered with better balance. The Panthers' top five runners all finished in the top 18. Northwestern was a close third with 70. Logansport and Winamac took the other advancing spots.


Cass freshman Miah Martin was the individual winner, covering the Berry Patch course in 19:28.33. Taylor's Cami Hansen was third in 20:00.67. Among the other runners who advanced as individuals were Eastern's Carly Jones (17th, 21:21.06) and Kokomo's Cinnamon Andrews (28th, 21:56.74).
In the boys race, Winamac was the runaway team winner. Also advancing to today's regional were Logansport, Kokomo, Western and Pioneer.

Western's Josh Everetts was the top KT-area runner in the boys race, finishing fourth in 16:33.79. Cass' Cail Brown (17:02.80) and Kokomo's Ethan Sharp (17:02.80) followed in fifth and sixth.
In today's regional, the top five teams and the top 10 individuals from non-advancing teams will advance to the New Prairie Semistate next week.
