Taylor University InvitationalKokomo Tribune - Sunday, August 30, 2015 BY TRIBUNE STAFF REPORTS Josh Everetts ran to a second-place finish for the Panthers in the 10-team invite, finishing in 17:08 as Western took second overall with a score of 100 behind first-place Eastbrook (41) at the inaugural Taylor University high school invite. “I think we were a little surprised by the outcome,” Western coach Gary Jewell said. “I didn’t think we’d finish that high but we were able to sneak past Twin Lakes.” Twin Lakes placed third with a 104 and Maconaquah followed with a 123. Peru finished eighth at 201 and Tipton was 10th at 239. Mississinewa freshman Brennan Butche posted the top overall finish at 16:36. Josh Scott finished in 15th place for the Panthers with a run of 18:21. Alex Taylor followed in 16th (18:23), Andrew Granfield was 32nd (19:22) and Nate Nicholson was 35th (19:26). Tyler Lechner placed 40th in a time of 19:34.“We’re kind of getting where we want to be,” Jewell said. “Josh Everetts and Josh Scott were both sort of sick this week. Several guys dropped their times. We want to keep getting the times down without doing anything over the top at practice.” |
