Area XC Runners Earn Academic Honors

The Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches recently announced its academic all-state girls and boys teams and several Kokomo-area athletes received recognition.

The teams are open to juniors and seniors who are members of sectional rosters and selections are based on GPA (minimum 3.5 on a 4.0 scale) and SAT (seniors) or PSAT (juniors) scores.

On the girls side, Sarah Wagner (Eastern), Megan Hedges (Eastern), Olivia Nixon (Western), Elise Cobb (Northwestern) and Emilie Hobbs (Peru) made the 50-member first team and Bethany Neeley (Eastern), Brittany Neeley (Eastern), Lauren Ward (NW), Shelbi Fisher (Carroll) and Bridget Peden (Carroll) received honorable mention.

On the boys side, Adam Schaaf (Eastern), Austin Elliott (Western) and Tallis Bowers (Carroll) made the 73-member first team and Patrick Lewis (Carroll) earned honorable mention.
