Boys Meet

Huntington North won the 14-team invite with a score of 62 and Maconaquah was second at 88.  Western took fourth with a score of 105. Kokomo was seventh (148) and Northwestern was ninth (266). Peru followed in 10th.

For Western, Chris Love took ' eighth (17:13), Christopher Nunan was 19th (17:38), Braxton Bagwell was 21st (17:49), Matt Grider was 24th (17:53) and Ben Bradshaw was 33rd (18:26).

"Chris Love was running pretty well, but he had a slight injury [arise during the day] so it's going to be a day-to-day thing I guess from now until conference," Western coach Gary Jewell said. "Matt Grider had a little injury from two weeks ago that I think he's over. We had him proceed with caution the first mile, then I had him take off. That's why he's so far back."

Kokomo's top five runners were: Adrian Glover (sixth place, 17:04); Dylan Walker (ninth, 17:16); Brent Noll (32nd, 18:20); Matt Scharenbroch (56th, 19:04); and Waylon Coulter (57th, 19:07). Northwestern'»top five runners were: Sam Freeman (26th, 17:58); Charlie Neher (50th, 18:51); Zach Duranto(71st, 19:39); Nolan Cockrell (75th, 19:45) and Kyle Condon (87th, 20:37).

"Seven different boys had course-bests. I was really happy with that. They showed continued improvement again," Northwest­ern coach Dave Stevens said.

Girls race

Huntington North took he title, blistering the 13-team field with a score of 36. Western was sec­ond with a score of 90 and Northwestern was third at 107. Peru finished fifth.

Corianne Myer took second overall in a time of 20:22 to lead the Western effort, breaking a school record in the process. Krissy Durr was 11th (21:26), Erin Weber was 21st (22:09), Gina Jakubowicz was 28th (22:33) and Cara Love was 39th (23:14).

"The best thing there was to note Corianne Myer's time — she finally hit the fastest 5K time for Western," WHS coach Joni McCra'cken said. "That's been a goal of hers all season. [Also], Krissy Durr had a very nice race."

Northwestern's top five runners were: Gretchen Catron (seventh, 21:08); Britanny Jocius (18th, 22:00); Hannah Ault (23rd, 22:16); Heidi Freeman (27th, 22:26); and Karly Sprouse (44th, 23:20).

"I thought they did very good," NW coach Dave Stevens said. "We had three personal-bests, three other girts had course-bests. I thought they ran really well for this course, coming off a meet on Saturday and I'm looking forward to us running in the courr-/ty meet on this coming Saturday."

Peru's top five runners were: Keyia McConahay (16th, 21:57); Taylour Kintner (19th, 22:02); Emilie Hobbs (35th, 23:08); Gena Fisher (55th, 24:02); and Tiffany Rush (69th, 25:20).
