PREP ROUNDOUP: Rossville Invitational

Boys Meet

Western took top honors with 38 points, followed by Carroll (43) and Horizon (68) to round out the top three.

The Panthers' Matt Grider was second overall (17:55). Christopher Nunan (18:33), Braxton Bagwell (18:35) and Kyle Starich (18:46) placed seventh through ninth respectively, and Ben Bradshaw was 11th (19:12).

"I sat out Chris Love, because he needed rest," Western coach Gary Jewell said. "I knew running without him, it would be a close race. I had the boys go out slow, and move after the first mile. Grider was 20th at the mile, and he ended up in second place. He is a very good addition to our team. Overall, we did pretty well, considering the little handicap that I gave them."

Girls race

Western was the top team with a score of 32, while Tipton (78), Delphi (79) and Carroll (79) rounded out the four top teams.

The Panthers' Corianne Myer was the overall winner in a time of 21:28. Western's Krissy Durr was seventh (22:44). Erin Weber took 10th (23:24), and Bre Nicholas placed 12th (24:19).

"It was a little bit difficult for us, [Thursday]," Western coach Joni McCracken said. "I found them running alone. I usually have a pack of second through fifth. I would like to keep the pack tight at the end. It was Myer's first win in cross country. She was running by herself for the last half of the race."
