Western wins 5-way meet

Boys Meet

Western's Corey Scott set the pace, leading Western to a team score of 21 at Indiana Wesleyan. Marion took second (53) Kokomo third (60), Wabash fourth (111) and Tipton fifth (119).

Also for the Panthers, Zac Martinez was third in 16:53, Austin Young was fourth (17:04), Kody Harmon was sixth (17:49), Chris Love was seventh (17:50), John Capps was 12th (18:10), Kyle Starich was 16th (18:49).

"Corey Scott and Zac Martinez went out with the Marion boy — they went out for a pretty fast pace for two miles — and I was surprised that Corey ran a 16:32. That's pretty fast for a Tuesday," Western coach Joe Orr said. He noted that Scott ran very quickly given that he set a personal best just three days earlier. "And also, Zac Martinez broke 17 minutes. He didn't break 17 Saturday.

"I think the boys are coming around pretty well right now."

Western runs in the New Haven Classic on Saturday.

Ian Holtson led Kokomo in fifth (17:25), Jordan Lee was eighth (17:52), Drew Simon was 10th (18:08), Matt Wyss was 15th (18:46) and Kyle Wysong was 22nd (19:26).

Levi Bess took 14th to lead Tipton (18:45).
