GIRLS CC Carroll Invitational

Boys Meet

Western won the invitational with 20 points. Host Carroll was second (53).

Western's Corey Scott (16:50) and Zac Martinez (17:30) finished first and second. Also for Western, Chris Love came in fourth (18:03), John Capps was sixth (18:10) and Kyle Starich was 11th (18:38).

Western coach Joe Orr used the invitational to fine tune his squad.

"It is kind of a way to run Tuesday to break up a practice," Orr said. "I wanted Love and Capps to have more of a scoring roll, so I held back two of my runners, and Starich did a good job in 11th place. Scott and Martinez led us, and they also did a good job."

Eastern was led by Ryan Horner placing ninth (18:29). Brett Buckmaster came in 22nd (19:56), and Luke Kimmel was 51st (23:41).

Also for the Panthers, Kelsey Durr (23.59) and Bre Nicholas (24:04) finished 18th and 19th.

"I was really pleased with the girls," Western coach Heather Yentes said. `They are encouraging each other and working together, which is a part of being on a team, so that's good to see. We've had some tough practices, but they just need to keep focused on their goals."
