Boys Meet

Western swept the top five places for a perfect score of 15, Taylor (46) took second place and Tri-Central and White's fielded incomplete teams.

Austin Young, Zac Martinez and Corey Scott covered the course in 18:57 to tie for first place and John Capps (20:06) and Kyle Starich (20:09) completed the Panther sweep.

"That was very good," Western coach Joe Orr said of the sweep. "It was very hot. We actually ran good enough to win. We have to run again Thursday [at Rosssville] ... the guys saved a little bit so they can compete Thursday. Hopefully the weather condition will be a little better."

Anthony Rentz (21:24) and Julian Nieto (21:35) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, to lead Taylor and teammate Ethan Martin (26:06) came in 21st. Derek Glass (21:09) took sixth to lead TC. Also for the Trojans, Jason Baird (21:51) and Kyle Garhert (22:18) finished 10th and 11th, respectively, Justin Thompson (24:59) was 18th.

Girls race

Western (15) dominated the meet, Tri-Central (45) followed second place and Taylor and White's fielded incomplete learns.

Western's Jam Elliott won the race after covering the course in 21:56 and teammates Corianne Myer (22:27), Kayla Gaskins (23:16), Bre Nicholas (23:47) and Ashley Gaskins (23:50) took the other top five finishing spots to give the Panthers a perfect score of 15.

Also for the Panthers, Lacey Myer (24:07) and Kelsey Durr (25:50) came in sixth and eighth, respectively.

I was really happy with the way they ran in the heat. There really wasn't any shade on the course," Western coach Heather Yentes said.

For Tri-Central, Haley Hewitt (25:06) came in seventh and Holly Puckett (26:32), Casey Muhs (27:24), Cheyanna Upton (27:53) and Kayla Sheets (28:36) finished 10th through 13th.

Leslie Maple (26:03) led Taylor with a ninth-place finish.
