Western swept the top two positions in a five-way at Wabash as Annina Gruber won the race in 16:20 followed by Anna Hurlock in second, leading the Panthers to victory. Jenn Elliott took seventh for Western, followed by Lacy Myer (ninth), Cassie Myer (tenth) and Kiley Camp (fifteenth).
“We followed up really well,” Western coach Dana Neer said. “Obviously, going from a big meet to a smaller meet with five teams, some times the atmosphere isn’t there. But it was an important meet for us. We wanted to do well without having to race extremely hard. We were able to have eight girls in the top 20, so that was a big achievement for us. Callie Swigart won the JV race, and that was a big accomplishment for her.”
Kokomo, Marion, Tipton & Wabash - Boys
Kokomo placed five runners in the top 13 to win the five-way meet at Wabash.
Luke Minor paced Western with a third-place finish, while teammate Trevor Mann was 11th and Jared Hall 18th. Marion’s Alex Wimsatt won the individual race, covering the course in 17:23.
“Luke had an outstanding race,” Neer said. “He has learned the skills and art of racing. He understands what he has to do each meet. He had a really nice race tonight. He worked his way through the crowd early on, didn’t panic, and had a really nice last mile to finish a strong third.”
“Trevor Mann placing 11th and Jared Hall gave us three guys in the top 20.”
