Expectations

 
  • Be good citizens, students, etc.
  • Be the examples; don’t be made the example.
  • Have balance in your lives.
  • Show up for practice & do the workouts.
  • No hiding from the coaches on easy days.
  • No whining!
  • Win Howard County, M I C, Sectional, & Regional championships.
  • When we win act like you’ve been here before.
  • No posting team-related stuff on the internet – PERIOD!  That includes bulletin boards, Facebook, etc.  We’ll have a big enough target on us as it is. Let’s not give other teams reason to want to beat us more than they already do.
  • Expect to win.
  • Have Fun!

 

Summer workouts

 
  • Start your base training as soon as your track season is complete. For some of you that could be as early as April 27th.
  • Be consistent in your training. The more time you spend developing your base this summer the faster you'll be next fall.
  • Meet as a team 3-4 times per week starting June 7th. Summer workouts will most likely take place in the evenings this year.

 

Summer Moratorium

 
    July 4 – July 10 - it is highly recommended that IF you are going to be on vacation to do it this week. Regardless of your destination, we will be giving you workouts to complete.

 

Summer road races

 
  • Running an occasional road races is a good way to measure your improvement over the sumemr..  However, don’t over-race!  We’re training to run PR’s in October, not July.
  • A few suggested summer road races:
    Jun 04th - Trojan Trot 5K, Sharpsville.
    Jul 02nd - Haynes-Apperson Festival 4 Mile, Memorial Gym, Kokomo - this would be an excellent mid-summer test agasint some of your high school competitors.
    Jul 16th - Panther Prowl 5K, Russiaville.
    Aug 06th - Norris Insurance 5K, Converse 5K - Flat & fast course.

 

Fund Raiser(s)

 
  • Panther Prowl 5K, July 16th.  If you’re NOT on vacation and you're NOT running in the race be prepared to help. This is our major fundraiser for the year.

 

1st Official Practice – August 1st

  • Get your physicals!!!! You must have all of your paperwork turned in before the 1st official practice otherwise you won't be allowed to practice.
  • You have to complete 10 official practices before you can run in a meet. Only 1 practice per day counts toward your total.
