Western took the top team spot with a time of 55:39 in the Northwestern combo 3K at Oakbrook Valley.

I think this is the 12th time in a row we’ve won, which is nice,” Western coach Gary Jewell said. “It’s a good start for us. We’ve got a really young team and it was good to see them all step up.

A total of three races took place, one for Nos. 1 and 2 runners, another for Nos. 3 and 4 runners, and a third for Nos. 5, 6 and 7 runners.

Tipton’s Brody Brock had the top overall time at 10:44. He was first in the 1-2 race, Eastern’s Brayden Richmond won the 3-4 race (10:53), and Western’s Joseph Packard took first in the 5-6-7 race (11:25).

“I want to thank Gary Jewell and Oakbrook Valley allowing us to have the meet out there with construction going on at Northwestern,” Tigers coach Dave Stevens said. “It was a good first race. Very hot and very humid but Lauren Longshore did an outstanding job winning the race.”

A total of three races took place, one for Nos. 1 and 2 runners, another for Nos. 3 and 4 runners, and a third for Nos. 5, 6 and 7 runners.
